Message from Rhydian about his 'Carry The Fire' album: "This album was to me what’s known as a no-brainer.
I’m a rugby fan; I also used to play the sport and I love singing rugby songs and anthems. The fact that the World Cup is being held in the British Isles in 2015 made the decision to record ‘Carry The Fire’ all the more straightforward.
If you’ve followed my career from the very beginning, you will know that during my childhood the goal was to become an international rugby player. That, unfortunately, never came to pass but, somehow, when I sing these great rousing songs, I feel all engulfed in the thrill, the duel, the wonderful atmosphere that is rugby union. In Welsh we call it ‘Hiraeth’ I suppose!
On this album I have tried to include songs from all of the home nations and I’ve also co-written two original songs, ‘Come On Ye Faithful’ and ‘Take Me Home’. So, no matter what the result of the tournament, or indeed any sporting battle, one thing that will always unite us is music sung from the heart. In ‘Carry The Fire’ I hope we will share that in abundance!
Enjoy!
Rhydian"
